> Remove the Ignition Coils
The replacement of the spark plugs involves first removing the ignition coils.
- Remove key from the ignition.
- Pull up rear carpet and remove engine cover.
- Unclip electrical connector (item 1) at respective ignition coil and disconnect.
- Remove the screw (item 2) at the respective ignition coil.
- Remove the ignition coil (items T1/1, T1/2, T1/3).
> Replace the Spark Plugs
- Unscrew spark plug (item R4).
- Check and if necessary adjust spark plug gap. The spark plug gap is 0.035 in.
- Install new spark plugs being careful not to cross thread. (Tip - spark plugs should be hand started)
- Install all removed parts in reverse order.

- The spark plugs should be replaced every 3 years or 30,000 miles -- whichever comes first.
- The torque specification for the spark plug is 13 ft/lb.
- Be sure the spark plugs are gapped to smart specifications. The correct spark plug gap is 0.035 in.
- A worn spark plug can cause poor fuel mileage and damage your engine, which can reduce it's life.
